1. What makes you 'GreyHart'? Tell me a bit about yourself.
The name itself is something I may explain one day, but is quite a personal thing which I turned into my gamertag. As a bit of a result of this, the GreyHart you hear casting is not the same as Stan irl. Don’t worry though, I used to be schizophrenic, but we’re ok now...
2. What is your motivation for casting?
Something I only remembered recently was that as a kid I wanted to be a football commentator. Millions of wasted hours and pounds on LoL later, I finally transitioned that dream into something I thought I could be good at. I would love this to be my job, but even if I can only do it occasionally as a semi-pro that’s pretty freaking awesome! Also, I like to be the centre of attention and I’m never going to play at a high level so I might as well steal the spotlight from you guys...
3. What has your experience been so far of casting in the European Compete Leagues?
Amazing. My first day on the job I was supposed to be the backup, but someone dropped out. I jumped in completely unprepared, but the Black Rose boys made me feel right at home and the positive reaction from the community helped no end. Being involved with community events like the Steam Golem Awards just increased my love for CL, especially Gold/Plat. If I ever make it big, there’s no way I’ll leave here completely unless you run me out of town with pitchforks...
4. What is your favourite champion?
Shen - I love the playmaking ability of the champ, but mostly this stems back to a day I cosplayed as Surgeon Shen (my og LoL cosplay) and ended up on stage at Insomnia playing against Rioters. I went 6/0/12 in a game cast by the legend that is Medic and got an mvp interview at the end. This is the one and only known time that I went deathless in a LoL game...
5. Do you have anything you'd like to add on?
This bit could literally be endless and I apologise to anyone I miss out. Firstly, got to say a massive thank you to the GreyWife who supports my efforts and puts up with me casting in the evenings and can’t watch tv as a result. A guy who seems like Marmite in the CL community despite only just arriving is Zyenne, but he’s kept me going on league and been a massive encouragement with my casting work. Thanks to Jaws for pointing me in the direction of CL and Medic for reviewing my work critically. Starting a podcast with Val has been great fun and can’t wait to see where it goes. Shoutouts to anyone in the community I’ve played games and chatted with regularly like Sesh, Kai, Axile, Amyy, Cicero, this nerdy kid called Pikehex, and many others. The casting team at CL are incredible - Kradden and Kortek are just amazing guys with a boat load of talent, Counterfeit has helped me improve so much with regular reviews, Benvarmen has done what so many other casters wouldn’t do in a dog eat dog world and pointed me in the direction of other opportunities, Louis has got to be one of the most committed guys in CL, and Docda has put in a huge amount of work to make sure there are opportunities at CL for me. I would thank Kwee for being the man who originally accepted me into CL and held my hand through the early casts including the now infamous slavic squat bathroom cast, but I seem to have run out of space sadly...
